1.1 INTRODUCTION


Psychology is the science of behaviour and mind, embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experience as well as thought. It is an academic discipline and a social science which seeks to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases. In this field, a professional practitioner or researcher is called a psychologist and can be classified as a social, behavioural, or cognitive scientist. Psychologists attempt to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviour, while also exploring the physiological and biological processes that underlie cognitive functions and behaviours. Psychology is the science of behaviour and mental processes. In this field, a professional practitioner or researcher is called a psychologist, and can be classified as a social scientist, behavioural scientist, or cognitive scientist. Health and psychology concern psychological factors how to affect the health. In Clinical psychology study about abnormal psychology and psychiatry also think about psychological medicine. Hence, study of psychology is essential in every aspect of Nursing such as care cure, prevention of diseases, promotion of health and rehabilitation of client.
